Dr Joni Parmenter is a social anthropologist with 20 years’ experience across academia, industry, government and Indigenous organisations, specialising in Indigenous engagement and the social dimensions of mining and the resources sector.
Her research areas include Aboriginal employment and enterprise development, gender, cultural heritage, cultural training, agreements between Aboriginal communities and resource companies, governance, and post-mining land use and rehabilitation. Joni has an extensive record of research, partnership-building and leadership, with collaborations across major mining companies, Indigenous organisations and government agencies.
Through her research and industry engagement, she has contributed to strengthening Indigenous engagement, cultural heritage practice and social performance across the resources sector. In her new role, Joni will build on this experience to advance impactful, partnership-based research and practice. We look forward to welcoming her expertise, leadership and extensive networks to the team.
